The first appearance of RAF SIMONS sneaker was the 2005SS collection. When it first appeared, it was one of the items that became a hot topic because “Finally, RAF SIMONS made sneakers.” Until then, RAF SIMONS used custom Converse All-Stars for most of his looks, and Vans slip-ons for 1999SS. When I saw 2005SS collection, I never thought that this model would become a staple. The 2005SS collection had a retro-futuristic feel to it, and this sneaker really embodied that style. It was not sold in 2006SS and 2006AW, but it was revived in 2007 and has continued to be sold since then. The suggested retail price of this 2007 version was 72,450 yen including tax, but I remember it being in the 50,000 yen range when it was first released in the spring and summer of 2005.
初出は2005春夏コレクションであったラフシモンズのスニーカーです。初出時は「ついにラフシモンズがスニーカーを作った」ということで話題となったアイテム郡のうちのひとつでした。それまではほとんどのコレクションではカスタムしたコンバースオールスターを、1999年春夏だけはヴァンズのスリッポンを使っていました。2005春夏のコレクションを見た時、まさかこのモデルが定番化するとは思っていなかったですね。2005年春夏はレトロフューチャー感を感じさせる作風のコレクションで、このスニーカーがそのコレクションの作風を非常によく体現していたのです。2006年春夏、2006年秋冬では販売されませんでしたが、2007年春夏で復活、以降継続して販売されました。この2007年版の希望小売価格は税込72,450円でしたが、2005年春夏の初出時は5万円台だったと記憶しています。
